On 12 May, the CaixaBank Hotels & Tourism Awards were presented, rewarding some of the best and most innovative social initiatives launched during 2020 to adapt to the crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The ceremony was held at the Hotel ILUNION Atrium and was attended by CaixaBank’s regional directors in Madrid, Rafael Herrador and Juan Luis Vidal, who emphasised the sector’s ability to adapt to the circumstances arising over the last year and the company’s commitment to helping it to recover.

ILUNION Hotels received the regional award for ‘Best Social Initiative’ for its collaboration with the public health system following the declaration of the state of emergency. During the toughest months of the pandemic, several hotels were medicalised and converted into support centres for Madrid’s hospitals to increase the number of spaces available and treat as many patients as possible.

The award was collected by our CEO, José Ángel Preciados, who was accompanied by Beatriz Miguel, Director of Operations, and Mercedes Ramos, Financial Director.

We would like to congratulate the other award-winning companies, Cool Room Atocha, Grupo GAT and AEHM, and wish them the best of luck for the national awards ceremony to be held on 19 May at FITUR, where we will also be participating as finalists. Once again, our social and charity work has been recognised and rewarded. We are grateful to all the teams that made this possible.
